It seems like once a year, an unknown indie band comes out with a song that crosses over all genres and becomes beloved by everyone who hears it (think “Kids” by MGMT). 2012’s version is “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. I first heard it in a trailer for MSP’s 2012 ski movie “Superheroes of Stoke.” Anchored by this song as the soundtrack, the trailer was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Later, it was used as the music behind the trailer for the new Assassin’s Creed (for you non-nerds out there; one of the most anticipated video games of the year). Don’t get me wrong, this song isn’t “Kids”, and it lacks some elements of mainstream appeal that made “Kids” such a hit, but this song is going to be used in countless commercials, videos, playlists and more. Sometimes you hear a song and you just know its destined for greatness. For this one, I know. One of the top songs of 2012.
