Ever since Swedish House Mafia dropped this song in their December set at Madison Square Garden, this has been one of the most anticipated releases in all of electronic music. It was supposed to be released in March, but was pushed all the way to April 9th. Fortunately for us, it somehow leaked a few days ago, and has been all over the internet in full quality. To do this song justice, it has to be bumped extra loud on a good set of speaks. The real good buildup starts at 2.45, with the best drop at 4.24. Turn it up and enjoy!
The first Thursday of spring quarter has looked nothing like spring at all. Rain aside, the first Thursday of spring means more to Pi Kapps than it does most people, because its basically Christmas Eve. 747 is tomorrow morning, and there is no spring time event that really compares. We play the same songs every year, because for some reason, nothing else sounds as good at full volume at 7am. I’m sure you will hear these songs again at 7 tomorrow, but whatever, I’m just too excited to wait 12 more hours.
I’ve been hooked on Hoodie Allen for a long time and frankly I’m surprised we haven’t posted anything by him yet. He’s releasing his new album The All American coinciding with his tour that’s rolling through Seattle on May 13th. This is his new single off the album, which has a fresh new feel from some of the Hoodie we are used to. I’m diggin’ the girl going Office Space on the boombox.
In honor of the Mariners’ MLB season opener, we decided we to revisit an absolute classic. This song gives me the chills every time I hear it. Getting nostalgia from the best days of Mariners baseball, remembering Dave Niehaus’ unbelievable voice, hearing the heart and soul that Macklemore is able to put into this song – this is a powerful piece of art and a fitting tribute to a local legend. A must have for any Mariners fan, and anyone else who is able to appreciate genuine musical artistry.

Still reminiscing about the club scene in Cabo. Every night at Squid Roe sometime in the late hours past 2am as peoples feet are starting to drag and people are dropping out of the club like flies this song came on. At first I didn’t realize anything was different until my heart rate increased and I could no longer keep up with the lyrics. I like the change of pace for this song and I sped it up for you all in VirtualDJ. This one gets the people going as soon as it starts.
This song is gonna be huge. I’ve always been a fan of Porter’s music, and to me, this is his best song to date. It’s official release is set for April 10 via Ministry of Sound, but since there are no good rips or downloads available on the interwebs, we have to settle for streaming this eargasm via youtube for now. Luckily, Ministry of Sound put the full song on youtube in HQ yesterday, which should be enough to tide us over until April 10. Enjoy.
The Shins’ newest album came out about a week ago, and since I’ve been in Cabo listening to strictly party beats and old-school feel-good rap jams, I haven’t had the time to fully dissect and appreciate the work done by one of my favorite groups. After listening to the whole thing through a few times, I can confidently say that this is my favorite alternative album so far this year. I would highly recommend buying it, but you can also stream it at the Shins’ Soundcloud or on Spotify. My two personal faves off the album:
The Shins – No Way Down
The Shins – Its Only Life (Live at SXSW) This video reminds me that the Shins played one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen, and gets me all the more pumped to see them again at Sasquatch.
